About Renay

Renay Aumiller (she/her), is a choreographer, performer, and educator based in North Carolina. As the founder and artistic director of Renay Aumiller Dances, you’ll find her work rooted in collaboration, thoughtful inquiry, and a commitment to exploring the human experience through movement.

 

Her choreography has been presented across the United States and internationally in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Canada, Serbia, and Pakistan. She has performed with choreographers from Chicago, New York, Seattle, and North Carolina, and toured globally with internationally recognized improvisation artist Kirstie Simson in Taiwan, Cambodia, and Italy. Renay is an Associate Professor of Dance at Elon University.

 

She holds an MFA in Choreography, a BA in Dance Studies, and certifications as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and a Franklin Method® Educator. She has also held guest residencies and presented her work in universities and conferences across the U.S. and China.

 

Through all of her work—on stage, in the classroom, and in research—you’ll discover a thoughtful blend of rigor, artistry, and care.

RAD's Story

Renay Aumiller Dances (RAD) creates evocative, thought-provoking performance experiences that have resonated with audiences both nationally and internationally. Founded in 2012, RAD has been praised for its “compelling, thought-provoking theater” and deeply “evocative” choreography.

The company’s concert dance works have been featured in renowned festivals across the U.S., as well as in self-produced performances in both traditional and unconventional venues. RAD’s dance film collaborations extend the company’s reach globally, with screenings in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Canada, Serbia, and Pakistan.

Most recently, RAD has exemplified leadership within the field by creating, producing, and curating performances that prioritize community and locality. Based in North Carolina, the company has focused on building artistic platforms in Hillsborough, NC, offering opportunities for local artists to share work rooted in and responsive to their immediate communities.
